What a fantastic start to the season for our U12 Onyx, securing a confident 23–4 victory in opening Wavell league match of the season!
The team came out hard in the first quarter, setting the tone with excellent defensive pressure and plenty of turnovers. Ebangha, Caitlyn and Chloe were relentless, producing fantastic defensive tips to win back possession, while Lotte showed great confidence with some impressive long-range shooting.
The second quarter became a little chaotic as the girls’ skill and fitness began to overwhelm the opposition. Despite the disruption, the team continued to work hard, adapt and maintain their intensity.
Some positional changes in the third quarter brought a new dynamic to the game. Excellent driving towards the ball created opportunities for Chiamaka and Stephanie to make some superb interceptions and keep the pressure on.
A positional switch saw Catilyn move to WA, where she produced excellent circle-edge drives and precision feeds into the shooting circle. Verity capitalised brilliantly, showing great composure with her shooting and working hard on the rebounds.
The fourth quarter further showcased the team’s developing skill, composure and excellent overall teamwork, as they continued to work together and secure a confident 23–4 victory.
