Panthers Sabers took on Vipers on a cold evening at Wavell and delivered a dominant performance from the opening whistle. A strong first quarter saw Sabers race out to a 7–0 lead, with fantastic court play across all areas and very little to criticise from the sideline. The main focus was simply on re-offering if not used first time and tightening up the width of play.
By halftime, Sabers had extended their lead to 13–3. The third quarter brought heavy, icy rain and strong winds, making conditions extremely challenging — especially for shooting — but the team adapted brilliantly. Positions were rotated to ensure everyone played three quarters, and despite the slippery ball, the girls persevered to secure a well-earned 19–5 win.
Coach’s Player went to Amelia Collins for digging deep at WD and providing strong backup options in tough conditions. Opposition Players were Amelia K and Chloe.
Well done Panthers Sabers — what a wonderful team effort!
