The first game of the season certainly did not disappoint!

It was a match of two halves. The girls started the match a little hesitantly, finding themselves two goals down at the end of both Q1 and Q2. However, in the second half they found their rhythm, took an early lead, gained confidence and settled into the game beautifully. The second half was a completely different story. Lynx took control, winning the third quarter 17–5 and the fourth 16–7, to secure an impressive 56–37 victory.
There were plenty of positives to take from today's performance.
It was encouraging to see that the girls' fitness levels were at a reasonably good standard for the first match of the season. We won’t rest on our laurels though – more fitness work to come. The girls listened well, took on board what was being asked of them, and were willing to adapt throughout the game. Our shooters grew in confidence as the match progressed, becoming increasingly comfortable looking to goal and sinking shots from both inside and outside their range. The circle defence worked brilliantly together. We may not have the height advantage, but they used the space intelligently, confused Laurel Park's attack and made it difficult for them to get into shooting range. There was also some great through court movement, particularly in the second half, with some lovely passages of play. Adaptability was another real positive. Changes were made easily and the girls responded well — and it was especially lovely to see Freya having a go at Centre!
Overall, this was a very positive first outing of the season, with plenty of encouraging signs to for the season ahead. Well done all!

Finally, congratulations to Gigi and Olivia for being named OPOM, and to the whole team for taking CPOM. A truly fantastic team effort today!
