Having played the same team the day before, the girls were ready to go again. They came out strong, with the two teams going goal for goal in the first quarter. Each member of the team worked hard from the first whistle ,which is something they knew they had to work on from the day before. Even when the opposition started to pull away, the girls kept fighting and turning over balls. The defence brought the energy, causing quite a few three second calls and forced errors. The opposition had a tall GS, but our defence worked hard at stopping the ball in by working as a unit to cover the space.
It was quite a physical game, but the girls kept their cool and stayed disciplined throughout. The ball was bought well down the centre third, with a square and a reset option being given. The transition into attack was where we started to struggle a little, with a lot of the balls being over head, allowing the opposition the chance to intercept. However, the attack did provide good balls into the circle and our shooters put it away.
The girls kept pulling it back and then the opposition would go on a run, so if we work on converting our many turnovers, we could have pulled out a win. It was a strong performance and the team should be proud of their work rate and resilience.
