Leopards produced an excellent all-round team performance in their match against Marlow Kites, combining strong defence throughout the court with smart, composed attacking play.
The game began with a slightly nervous start in the shooting circle, with a few early chances not quite finding the target. However, the girls soon settled, showing patience and composure to build their confidence. This improvement was reflected on the scoreboard, as Leopards took control and ended up taking the lead at the end of the first quarter 11–7. From there, the girls continued to win every quarter, building their advantage to secure a convincing 50–30 victory.
Defensively, Leopards were outstanding across the court, applying consistent and well-organised pressure on Marlow Kites’ centre pass. This made it difficult for MK to set up their attacking plays, and they struggled to convert their centre passes into scoring opportunities. The defensive intensity was particularly noticeable in the second half, with just over half of MK’s centre passes being converted.
Another highlight of the match was the versatility shown by the girls. The rotation of player combinations in both defence and attack worked smoothly, with everyone adapting well to different roles and partnerships. This flexibility helped maintain the team’s momentum and kept Marlow Kites under pressure throughout the game.
Overall, it was a confident, disciplined and well-balanced performance — well done to all!
Congratulations to Ellie and Isla A for PPOM, and to Isla A and Brooke for CPOM. Ellie was excellent in defence, turning over ball and keeping her GA well restricted. Isla A’s positioning in the shooting circle was textbook, and her shooting accuracy was very impressive. Brooke consistently applied strong ‘arms over’ pressure in defence, forcing poor feeds from MK, and also did a great job stepping in at GK when injury occurred.
Well done to everyone on a great start to the 2026 season — it was a joy to coach!
