A very strong start from the U13 Puma team in the Hampshire County league yesterday- you would not have known they had Christmas off- they were straight back on task- although a few more red faces than normal :-)
With just 1 point between us and the opposition in the league we knew they would be a strong opposition- but we were determined to take the win and cement our position in the table.
We went out with focus and determination from the first centre pass, and the end of the first quarter saw us with a narrow 2 goal lead. The opposition had a very strong circle defence making it hard for Keira to move freely in the court so we spoke at quarter time about defence ensuring they were an option on the C pass, and for the Keira to leave the C passes when doubled up on and focus on shooting circle options.
We also talked about our drives- we were working far to hard as we "chased" our players around the court and our drives were lacking in angles!
Both of these improved over the game, although we still have some work to do!
From half time onwards we really started to pull away and cement a solid lead with great team work on court. We managed to end the game ensuring our 3rd place rivals didn't manage to get a bonus point- helping us to pull aways into a strong 2nd place- now we need to chase down those league leaders!
