With limited indoor warm-up time (well done for starting outside), the girls were raring to go and took control of the game from the outset. The defensive pressure applied from the start by all was immense. Arms over the ball and denying space by stepping up to opponent put pressure on Dreams and enabled some great tips and interceptions. In our defensive circle, work was done to confuse the space of the Dreams shooter and to get feet round, this enabled ball interceptions or caused Dreams to force it over the goal line. In each quarter Dreams were kept to three or four goals, a fantastic achievement, well done all!
With so much of the ball won, it was pleasing to see the hard work result in goals. In the past the girls have sometimes thrown such an advantage away, but this time they did a great job in converting. Taking the early lead, the girls were able to relax into their game. There were good connections through the court and the ball flowed well down to our shooters who rarely missed. The shooting combinations worked well together.
Congratulations to Ava, for OPOM and to Maddie and Kiera for CPOM. Ava applied great defensive pressure and her movement down to our attacking circle and feeds were spot on. Maddie supplied great defensive pressure too and gained many clean interceptions. Finally Kiera, was given CPOM for her accuracy of shot, for her movement to create space and to make herself available.
Well done all, a delight to watch!
