Possibly the most stressful game we've experienced — but what a comeback! ??
With a couple of key midcourters missing, and one running late we had a last minute improvisation on C- and what a cracking job all those who stepped up did- well done Amelie and Verity!
We had many new players today and we played around with combinations - and appreciate all of the girls for trying whatever was asked- it showed great strength and versatility!
Massive well done to all the girls for an incredible turnover. When we play our game, we’re so strong — the play flows beautifully, and the girls make it look effortless.
We experimented with a few new combinations today, which challenged the team as they worked to find their rhythm with each other. This will only improve as we play more games and continue to develop in training.
The shooting and defensive circles were on fire ?? — fantastic effort all around!
When the mid-court was balanced and calm, they were unstoppable. I could see the girls starting to communicate more, calling for the ball and becoming more aware of each other's positioning to avoid crowding the same space.
A few things to work on: getting in front of the opposition instead of hiding behind, and taking our time under pressure.
Given we were behind for 6 of the 8 "quarters" to come back, close the gap and then push on for the win was nothing but incredible! Closer game than we would have liked- the stress levels were high- but the girls did a great job and so proud of them all!
